Decanter said the Maule Valley is “a breath of bracing Andean and Pacific air”. Paired with high altitude this makes for ripe, crisp, fruit-filled Sauvignon. Like this lively Reserva white, brimful of bright citrus, fleshy peach and pear character.

Fresh and fruity, crisp acidity, juicy peach and flinty minerality

Crisp citrus, green apples, fleshy peach, pear and floral hints

Hot sunny days, clear air and cool brisk nights – the foothills of Chile’s Andean mountains in the Maule Valley are a winemaker’s dream. The unique microclimate there makes for perfectly ripe and exhilaratingly fresh Sauvignon grapes, all zingy citrus, fleshy peach and floral aromatics. The Fray León winery used to make their breezy-fresh Sauvignon just for the enjoyment of locals. It was hugely popular, so when our buyer Leo got to hear about it, he visited to find out what the buzz was about. It’s a dashingly bright, citrusy-fresh white, with a few months’ ageing on its lees to lend a pleasing creaminess. A wine that’s sure to impress your friends. Chill down and share with good company as an apéritif, or with seafood or spicy noodles.
