Your favourite, super grassy, lemony fresh white, providing just what you want from a glass of Sauvignon. At the Bougrier family’s Touraine cellar, Franck Châtelain searches out the best grapes and employs them in this citrusy, aromatic white.
You couldn’t hope to find Sauvignon of this quality for the price in any of the Loire’s more famous regions. That’s especially true when demand worldwide for Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé in particular, continues to escalate. Blended from the year’s finest vats (and 2020 was a stunning vintage), Abbesse is as subtle and complex as it is refreshing and zingy. It’s made for us by our trusted friend Franck Chatelain at Noël Bougrier’s renowned cellar in the Touraine. The original Abbesse was Louise de Bourbon of the nearby Abbaye de Fontevraud and a major figure in Loire history. This delicious expression of the region’s reigning grape is a fitting tribute to her. Delicious on its own, it’s also a classic with goat’s cheese and fish.
