Spain is a red wine lover’s paradise. Where else can you find mature, barrel-aged reds that are so remarkably affordable?

Sherry, of course, has been a famous Spanish export for centuries, the reds of Rioja for well over 100 years. But don’t for a minute assume Spain is old fashioned. Today it’s at the cutting edge of European winemaking. Thanks partly to EU investment, up-and-coming regions (unheard of a decade ago) are now jostling with Rioja for the lion’s share of wine exports … and Spain’s surprisingly crisp, modern dry whites are winning us over too.

“There are better Spanish wines on the shelves today than ever before … the quality in the glass is shining through.”
Matthew Jukes – The Daily Mail
“Spain, in particular, is going through a wine revolution … new world winemakers are bringing their skills to traditional Spanish varieties and are producing excellent, fruit-driven wines.”
